When it comes to the menu, Stock & Barrel truly shines. Their handcrafted burgers are the undeniable centerpiece, offering both traditional and inventive combinations. From the savory Steakhouse Burger with cheddar, crispy onions, and sautéed mushrooms to the bold Mammacita featuring an avocado corn beef patty topped with fajita peppers, chorizo queso, and jalapeño aioli, each bite is a celebration of texture and flavor. For those seeking variety, the option to upgrade to specialty proteins like bison, elk, lamb, or even a salmon burger adds a gourmet flair that elevates the typical burger experience. One can’t help but be enticed by fan favorites such as the indulgent Chicken & Waffles, where crispy free-range fried chicken meets fluffy waffles drizzled with honey grain mustard – a dish that perfectly balances sweet and savory.
Beyond burgers, Stock & Barrel’s starters and sides are equally compelling. The Spicy Crab Dip delivers a rich, creamy kick, while the Fried Green Tomatoes and Duck Fries introduce textures that keep every palate interested. Fresh salads like the Village Tomato Salad and The Wedge offer a refreshing contrast, featuring combinations of heirloom tomatoes, Kalamata olives, and tangy dressings that are reminiscent of Mediterranean flavors.
Drinks are thoughtfully curated as well, with cocktails that match the menu’s boldness. The house-crafted Old Fashioned and inventive concoctions like the Blueberry House Old Fashioned complement the robust flavors of the food while providing a smooth, satisfying sip. For a sweet finish, the creamy Peanut Butter Pie and the nostalgic S’Mores Shake are indulgent treats that leave a lasting impression.
Guests repeatedly praise the generous portion sizes and the ability to customize meals to fit dietary needs. As one diner noted, the burger portions are “enough to share,” paired perfectly with an expertly made Old Fashioned. Another highlighted the impressive variety of burgers, catering to traditional tastes as well as adventurous eaters ready to try bold flavor fusions. While the restaurant’s compact size may not accommodate large groups comfortably, the friendly service and high food quality more than compensate.
Stock & Barrel stands out as a must-visit destination for anyone craving a top-tier, locally-loved burger experience in Knoxville. It’s a place where familiar American favorites gain fresh, flavorful life through creative pairings and premium ingredients, all served up in a warm, lively setting that invites you to relax, indulge, and return for more.
Burger size portions were enough to share. Old Fashioned was a nice fit for a burger. 100s of burning to select and a variety of burgers for any dietary preference. You can even upgrade your burger meat selection to bison or change to gluten-free bun.
My food was so good, I couldn't stop eating long enough to take a picture before I finished my plate! Best burger ever! Fries are excellent! Love the atmosphere. If you want a great burger, come to this place! They have a couple of traditional burgers but also some very interesting combinations that I can't wait to try the next time I'm in town
A solid little burger joint in Market Square. Not nearly as good as the hype that it has received. Went on a Sunday at lunch and was seated immediately. The restaurant itself is nothing special, kind of plain and honestly kind of small. Our food was good with no complaints. Service was great. I wouldn’t say it’s the best burger in town by any means, but worth a try if you’re interested.
Went in for lunch on Sunday afternoon. It was packed and it's a very narrow space. Not a fan of being that tight during flu season but that's just me. Our server Kristina S. was very nice and helpful as it was our first time. With her reccomendations we selected our food. I got a classic bacon cheeseburger cooked a perfect medium. The burger was absolutely fantastic but it only had one slice of bacon. I still enjoyed it very much. My fiancée got a mother clucker and was not really impressed although the portion was huge. She said the breading was to hard for her. I got half onion rings and they were pretty good. A light tempura like breading. All of our fries were extremely over cooked and hard as a rock. I like dark fries but these were incinerated. Had they been cooked properly they would've been great. I got a cold pint of Black Dog that was really tasty. My daughter didn't care for the mac & cheese but we enjoyed it. My other daughter enjoyed her grill cheese but was disappointed with the fries. I would probably go back for another burger but would get all onion rings next time. I'd definitely recommend a burger there. It really was the star of the show.
Great place if you are looking for burgers. They offer all different types of combos from traditional with cheese to egg or peanut butter toppings. The fries were great and the burger was cooked to order and was delicious. I tried the fried feta as an appetizer and it was good. Order if looking for a shareable . The tomato salad was refreshing and reminded me of a Greek salad. Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable and was very attentive to our table.
We loved our visit here! My wife had the salmon burger, and I had the 'merican burger! Phenomenal burgers!! They were simply outstanding! Our waiter was awesome as well! He checked on us frequently, and gave us refills as needed. The burgers were not cheap, but they were worth it. The fries and onion rings were also absolutely delicious!! I'm not sure if I can recall onion rings that good. Definitely a "must revisit" for us!
Busy place on game day, we got seated pretty quickly. We sat outside which was pleasant and great for people watching. We both ordered the Mother Clucker sandwich (Fried in a Buttermilk batter, Havarti cheese, Garlic Aioli, Bourbon Glaze Onions and topped with Tomato and Greens. OMG delicious. I ask for some Honey Mustard and got a Honey Dijon Vinaigrette. It was absolutely amazing, best sandwich ever! I recommend getting the split order of fries and onion rings because it’s more than you can eat. Ethan was our server and he was fantastic. Don’t go by the picture I posted. Give us the backside of my wife’s sandwich, which was grilled. My fried sandwich was huge. We will definitely go back.
